98 Bose unit on my 89 SE
I just had the (bouble din) Bose unit from a 98 Maxima installed on my 89 SE...I had the stock single din BOSE before.
The problem that has come up with the 98 unit is that when i switch on the headlights, the lights in the head unit do not come on. The display reads fine and ALL other functions are perfect. I took the car back to the shop that installed it and they couldnt figure out what was going on.
Does anybody have past experience with this kind of problem? or any ideas which wires might be connected wrong? The shop guy looked at it for an hour but couldnt figure it out.

Yes. There is a wire for illumination. I think it's orange. That wire provides the "light up" feature for the head unit.,However, in the some of these aftermarket harnesses, there's matching wire to hook to. On mine, I just shoved the orange wire far enough into the harness position where it should have had a mating wire.
If you didn't hook it up yourself, take it back to the person/place who did it, and have them look for the wire. It's probably loose in there and not hooked to anything.
