Is the starter turning over? Do you just hear a 'click' and nothing more? Or is the motor turning over, but not firing?

You have to be more specific... You don't think what is turning over - the starter, or the engine?
Oh...., and don't ever step on the gas of a fuel injected vehicle to 'help it out' - not a good idea...

is it clicking or trying to start??

get a wrench and tap the starter a few times (lightly) and see what happens...it sounds like your starter is bad.

Yeah, DA-MAX, that's what I was thinking too - but didn't wanna say without knowing exactly what wasn't turning over. Bet it's the starter solenoid - a LOT cheaper than the entire starter - especially if bought used.

If it's not turning over, then it might be the starter. the starter going out is a pretty common problem....personally, i'd recommend going to oreilly autoparts, buying a starter from them WITH lifetime warranty and learn how to switch it out yourself....doesn't take 10mins to do once you know how. That way if it EVER goes bad again, you can take it out and swap it with a new one under the lifetime warranty. GL

again, i recommend your getting one with a lifetime warranty or a brand new oem one. The oem ones cost quite a bit but last a while...Apparently, some starters dont like cold weather...if you spend big bucks on one without a warranty and it goes out....well....you're s.o.luck.

car won't start

make sure your factory alarm didn't set, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago, i set my non factory alarm, i later came back and clicked my remote to go inot my trunk, so i went into my trunk without opening the doors, it silently set it off, so when i tried to start it maid a noise and won't start, so i closed the door, locked with the key and unlocked, then it stared right up, doesn't hurt to try, normally when a starter is about to go, it gives you warnings.

I have a VERY similar problem... Some mornings my car wont start. It ususally is moist, humid mornings. For me, my starter is good. When I turn the key, the starter turns, but its as if no ignition. It usually starts after 5 mins of starting. I think my problem is a electrical problem. Anyone let me know about reccomendations (1993 GXE)
