just a thought.
just a thought.
for those of you who advanced timing to a radial degree.
ever notice this. run about 5 gallons of 110 octane in it. {without cats prefered} see what happens.
for those of you without knock sensors {why i don't know, but you need to be shot} do the same.
that is my final secret.
if need be, do a dyno run.
but i will say this. it does help
no detonation/knock = happier ecu = more agressive timing curves.
112 is too much and you will lose power. 110 seems right for the motor with happy timing.

I tried this at the track last time. I was running consistantly 14.80's and 14.90's all day while hotlapping. I tried many different things to get my car to run faster. All my numbers were identical... 60' and trap speed.
I tried removing my cone filter with my ram air setup... didn't make a difference. Didn't help and didn't hurt. I ran 3 times with this setup.
I dumped in 2 gallons of 100 octane at the track. When I got there, my fuel light has been on for 20 miles. So, I estimate my octane rating to be around 96.
I ran 4 times with timing set at 20*. Then I ran a couple more times with timing set at 22*. Then, I bumped my timing to 25*. All this didn't make a difference at all. I kept running those consistant times.
Now, I think that my knock sensor was consistantly doing the same thing no matter where my timing was set. So, that could be the reason.
A few weeks ago, I bypassed my KS with a resistor. With the timing set at 20* with 93 octane, it knocked. So, I immediately shut the car down and put my timing at 15*. No more pinging. I drove around town like this for 2 weeks. It definitely made a difference. My low end was back. So, that leads me to believe my KS is bad.
It never occured to me to bypass my KS while I had 2 gallons of 100 octane in the tank with the timing advanced to 20*. I wish I would have tried that while I was at the track.
