problem w/the vents

i'm relatively new to this forum and i've tried searching for a thread that explained a similar prob that i'm having right now, but i didn't find any.

so here's my prob, i have a 90 maxima se and something's up w/my vents, i think my vent directing thing is stuck. i tried making the vents direct air to my feet and/or do defrost, but my vents won't change directions, it keeps shooting straight out from the dash. this just happened recently, about 2 days ago and just this night i couldn't drive very far w/o stopping cuz my windshield fogged up in just a matter of minutes. so please help and tell me what's wrong w/my car. thanks.

Re: problem w/the vents

hey whats up i had the same problem with my max and i know exactly why its not changing. under your dash theres a little motor that controls your heater settings and i garunteed thats your problem cause all the parts in the motor are made of plastic and i bet one of the gears inside is jammed.the motor is located on the drivers side right under the dash closest to the middle console. you will see all the linkage going to the motor. take out the motor and take it apart to see if anything is broke but if i was you i would just buy a new one cause i garunteed its your problem.

I can supply you with good used parts for that area. I have the complete working vent setup so if you need a piece or the whole thing let me know.
