Sunroof Dilemas

I've been having problems with my sunroof lately. It tilts up and down normaly, but when i try slide it open it just doesnt budge. At first it would go half way, then only a 1/4 and now doenst move at all. I though it might be off track, but from what i can tell it seems to look all right. Any one have problems like this or what not.

let me know

are you talking about the cover? if so, mine does that too and it's ****ing me off. i think there is this plastic piece in there that is on a track and it seems to like to break easily because it's happened on both of my maximas.

Is there any specific (size / type / etc.) weather-stripping surrounding it? I really need to replace it....

I'd believe its the same as around the doors and such...

I have all of the aforementined problems. What I do is punch lightly right before the sunroof switch and it solves it. I think something gets stuck near or inside the motor. The punching realeses it or something.

I had this problem too and found a thread by doing a search about it. It might have been at Craig Braces website? It described taking off some plastic trim cover on the left and right side which exposes two nuts on each side that hold the glass to a mounting bracket. (you do this from within the car) Remove the nuts, and put a couple of thin washers between the glass and the mounting bracket and then tighten the nuts. Do this on each side to where glass is even with roof and doesnt rattle. I just got a box of washers that by eyeball measurement would fit the little bolt that comes down from the glass through the mounting bracket. You should be able to find it by doing a search, if my summary of the fix doesnt make sense.

Good luck.
