New member, couple of questions

Hi all,

Just picked up a 94 SE for a project car. I've been into import tuning for awhile now, and am an admin over at Club3G. My current car is a 2000 Eclipse GT (best 1/4 13.9 with a zex dry kit).

Anyhow, was hoping I could get a few pointers/links on some beginner mods for my totally-stock car The e36 headlight conversion looks like the first mod I'd be doing, and all the posts I've looked through have had a ton of great pics, but no real how-to/pitfalls/etc. If someone has a link on this, I'd love to see it.

I'm also looking to replace the front grill, and (if there's a quick replacement) remove the reflective taillight material on the trunk and go with something body color.

Also anything else that is good to do starting out (show/shine wise) would be appreciated. I do plan on going performance, but with the eclipse being my main track/go-fast car I'd like to do a few show-type things to the 'Max before having a look into some performance mods. It has 150k on it, so (if I take a liking to the car enough) somewhere in the not-too distant future I may look into FI/etc. But right now it just needs to look pretty.

Thanks much!

- C

Re: New member, couple of questions

http://geocities.com/bmwconversion <- thank Dennis

No grill swap but you can cut out the slats and put mesh or buy a pre-cut insert (its a rip off but hey)

As far as other things go on ebay and get some clear corners for like $15

the trunk reflector- you can just paint it body color (cheap and looks like **** IMO) or you can spend the money and have it shaved and painted by a body shop (or you can try it yourself)

some pics or real shaved trunks

some people like to remove the side moldings too

you can get a good price on the stillen kit for about $470 shipped if you email paul@avalonracing.net

and last of all check the FAQ's because most of the questions you will have, have already been asked and answered.

Thanks much. I have some corners and a new oem grill coming (since the chrome on mine is well-worn), and I actually broke down and bought a piece of precut gutter-guard off ebay for $20, since I'm too lazy to go to home depot and make it myself. (Ok, not really, but I figured why the hell not, and it was powdercoated already).

I'm planning on the headlight conversion as soon as the weather is a little nicer, and would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous about it. The walkthrough links are great though, and hopefully with a little patience I should have no problems.

A couple of other things I'm looking for:

- A location (preferably a pic) of where to run through the firewall for amp power. I'm not running anything really high, but I'd like to be able to get a 4 or 6awg wire through there.

- A good spot to ground in the trunk.

Thanks again for putting up with the newbie questions, and I did look around for half an hour or so on here before posting these - didn't see anything regarding them.

Here's a few pics of my eclipse, btw. I'd post pics of the maxima, but ... picture a stock black 94, and I'm sure you'll get the idea.

As always thanks for the help.

there is already a hole in the fender, if you take out the wheel well liner you will see it, I know if you look in the faq's on this page you will find a link to matt93se's page and he has detailed pics of this. as far as a ground just scrape away some of the paint and put a self tapping screw in.
