How to Replace thermostat on a 93 GXE

Hello
This is my first posting, I believe not to be disappointed with this forum.

My Max is keeping me cold in winter. When within the city the engine temperature tends to be normal. However things are totally different once on the highway. The gauge tends to drop down close to "C" and at times even below C.

History:
I bought the car Year and a half back and the first winter had a block heater installed in it. Ever since I am seeing this problem though it was not as bad as it is now.

Could it be due to Air trapped in the cooling system and needs to be properly bled or it is the thermostat valve.

I need some help in what to do. and would really appreciate if someone could direct me to any related instructions. I do not have the repair manual e.g clinton. Nor it is that readily available here in Canada.

Cheers
Daud

Well, if the problem only started after you installed the block heater, it's quite possible that there is air in the system. I've got a second gen, and there is a bleed screw that should be loosened when putting in coolant to allow air out. Dunno if the 3rd gen has this screw or not. If all else fails, replacing the thermostat is fairly easy and straight forward.

Thanks for the real quick reply

Any idea where can I find the bleed valve on a Max 93?

Cheers
