RACING!
Hey guys well im a newbie here and i just got me a max and my freinds are telling me how this car couldnt possibly be fast because its a four door family car! Now we all know that these are fast so could everyone tell me about some of their racing experiences and what cars a max can/cannot beat. Also a kid with a stock 95 mustang v6 wants to race me. can shut his big mouth and beat him?

Well there are a few big factors...
that determine how fast your car is. In the third gen you've got two engines you're looking at the VG (160 hp) and the VE (92-94 SE and 190 hp) VG runs 8.8 auto 0-60 drop a second if you have a 5spd. VE is about a second less 0-60. I don't think you'll have a problem with the mustang even if you have the VG. Here's a page with all the numbers. http://web2.airmail.net/scutchen/max_faq/

Re: RACING!
Don't ever let anyone diss the Maxima. My friend had some stuff to say about it and said that his 2000 Intrepid is better and that my 94 Maxiama is a box. So one night we where heding home from a night out and he pulled up beside me and reved his engine, so I turned the Overdrive off and pulled up to the line when the light turned green I flored it and took off. The race was preety close and he kept up with me ok, but I still smoked him. He has a 2000 Intrepid with a 3.2L V6. Let's just say he is a little bit shy about expressing his views. He is now planing on buying a 2000 Maxima.
well i can beat most cars on the street, i have a 92se5spd. I run 15.37@90mph with 2.2-2.3 60 ft times. I learned the hard way that some cars are faster, like the new SC grand prix, M3, M5, and pretty close with some stangs, slower of course, but close. Ill race anything, peep look over a see a nice shiny luxury car, but they dont expect me to abuse it, so I burn the ___ out of my tires, and then all of a sudden, i get my way!!lol.
for the size of the car, Its pretty fast.
So go ahead and race what ever tests you. If you dont win, you wont loose by much, and the other party will be pretty surprised.

I have kept neck and neck with the new mustangs and beat an older 5.0 mustang. The STS is about even and the grand prix GTP is a little faster. M3 don't even think about it (my dad has one)!! Also a big sleeper out there that not to many people think of is the Buick Regal GS. Its quick!! But in general the MAX will keep up with the best of them.

Truthfully, a stock V6 Mustang has very little chance of giving a Maxima any type of competition because those cars do not have a lot of midrange to keep up with a Max. They might have the torque by virtue of their 3.8 L V6 but the motor is not efficient enough (unless some mods are made).
In fact, the only V6 Domestic sports car that a Max might have trouble with is a new stock V6 Camaro because of the 225 hp. I have seen a V6 Camaro beat a V8 Mustang on the street firsthand.

The only way a Max would stand a chance with a V6 Camaro is in the mid-high end. Off the line....Fogeddaboutit. The Camaro has a 225 hp 3.8 liter V6 which produces a good amount of torque. Also, the newer V6 Mustangs have a sufficient horsepower increase but it still is lacking.
