i got a new arospeed muffler and would like to get all the exhaust piping 3 inches, like from the y pipes all the way back. would the 2.5 inch inlet on the muffler just cancel out the 3 inch piping or would it not really matter. i see a lot of third genners with full 2.5 inch exhaust, but isnt the stock piping 2.25? seems like 3 inches would be better. would it be worth it to do the 3 inch?

From what i have heard, you wont see any better power over the 2.5. But you will heara hell of a lot more noise. BTW which muffler did you get, and how do you like it?

2.5" is just about right for a NA Max. If you get a 3" system you will just loose your low end.

i got the the dual s/s dtm 3" muffler. basically its a regular oval case with two three inch tips that come out and kind of flare up. i think it looks sweet. i kind of held it up under the car to see how it looks and it looks nice. i guess i wont really know until i take it to the shop and actually get it put on though.

As lordrandall said, 3" exhaust would actually make you lose what the Max is known for.. TONS of torque. you won't gain much- if any- on the high end either. 2.5" exhaust is as big as you want to go for our engine, unless you install a turbo or S/C.
