Is that for the part, or part + labor? If it's both, then it would seem cheap to me if it's the full axle, it it's the part, I would think it sounds good, but since I haven't had to replace more then my CV joints, I wouldn't know for certain.

Yeah its a good price. My mechanic wants 150 parts and labor to do mine so 100 is definitely good.

I just paid almost $200 parts and labor to have my left axle replaced with a rebuilt unit. I believe new axles are something like $400.00 in just parts.

not sure about brand new axles but I paid $49 a piece for mine at an auto parts store my uncle works at (I got his price) I think they were normally around $60 or $70 to the general public.

damn, i paid almost $300.00 for both of my axles on my classic se-r. i did the work my self so i didnt pay labor. i would pay more than $50 in labor for this job. it is not that hard. but $100.00 buck for parts and labor is the players deal. i paid $50.00 to get my cv boot replaced one time. i definately will pay and extra $50.00 for the axle.

Sound like a reasonable to good price to me. The labor on replacing the CV boot is more than replacing the axle! I would just go for replacing the axles if greater than 50,000 miles and replacing the tranny fluid at the same time (comes out with the axle).

Thats what I was thinking, I wished I had known then I would have had them just go ahead and replace the axle!

IMHO It best to replace things in pairs -- right and left axles at the same time. That goes for tires, alignment, steering, suspension parts, light bulbs, etc.
