I have a 1989 GXE with 70k. My friend has a 2000 v6 Mustang

For some time now we play around on the road, but we never really come to a dead stop and race.

I told him when my gas tank is on E... and his is full I will race him. Im also going to take some of the crap out of my trunk.

MY QUESTION IS:
1.when I race him should I FLOOR it ALL THE WAY
2. Quickly ease into it
3. or just until the peddle is about to stop

I want to know the best Launch b/c those 1 to 2 secs at the start will HELP A LOT. I dont want to Peel away I want all the power I can.

I know I'll take him in 1st b/c of the torque 2nd he starts to pull a bit... but then we never finsh b/c of traffic.

No matter what you do your gonna lose......

Those 99+ V6 stangs are very quick. For the best launch you can get brake torque to 1700 then punch it. You want alittle wheelspin off the line so it gets your rpms up quicker. If you just easy into it you will only lose alot worse. Believe me by the time he hits 2nd gear or 3rd he is gonna pull away.

you are going to loose

unless you friend misses a shift or there is some act of god (aka quality ford products) he is going to take you. My friend has a 99 v6 convertable. On the same strech of road he is allready 10-15 mph faster and into 3rd gear....

more bad news.

The 4th/5th gen can barely beat the V6 stang. I think it's by like .2 in the 0-60
