I have a problem all of a sudden my overdrive button doesn't work which mean I can't get into overdrive...and my tranny seem like its skipping gears because my car starts to jerk at times. I always would drive woth my o/d button. I just need some help because I think the mechanist is feeding me bull on what could be the problem. what do you guys think???...Also I just got my tranny redone last october at 130,000 miles now my car has 136,000. I was thinking of just selling it as is should I do that??...You check the car out at "smoothmaxima" on the org....it's a 1989

What I'm wondering, is what do you mean by the o/d button doesn't work? Is it damaged? Does the light come on??

What line is the mechanic feeding you? You should have it checked out somewhere else and comapre the problem tehy describe. You can get a free tranny check by going to aamco's website

is there a certain time the jerk happens...when the car is cold, only when upshifting, etc?

it could be mechanical, with only 6K miles, isn't the tranny rebuild still under warrenty? or it could be something electrical since the shifts are electonically controlled. I'd vote mechanical though, but not sure what.

Btw, I wouldn't buy a car with tranny issues.

Hey i have the same problem every time i press my overdrive button it doesnt go on.It started doing that 2 months ago so i dont know if its the od light is burnt out or my trans is about to go. I notices to that my trans takes a lilbit to go into second gear when cold so u guys think is the tranny.
