I tried searching for information on this prob. but I couldn't find anything. My question to those who actually know something is... Why the hell do maxima front rotors warp so much? I have never had a car that ate up rotors the way my max does. I occasionally use the brakes heavy, but overall I don't really think I am doing something wrong. I bought my max and within 5-6 months I replaced the front disks. That was about a year ago and now my new ones from JC whitney are warped to hell again. Perhaps my prob is with the JC whitney rotors, but I put those on my acura with no probs for 2 years until I sold it. I used semi-metallic pads and they still have most of the material left. I am wondering if (1) I got bad brake rotors from JC Whitney; or (2)my $15 semi metallics from JC Whitney overheats the rotor; or (3) the brake design is bad; or (4) whether I have to brake extremely gently to avoid rotor damage. The only thing that I can think of is that in my daily commute I go down about 1/2 mile of steep grade, using brakes all the way (not really heavily though, I never smell them or anything). My brakes never have faded except the one time I tried using the brakes at 150 (mildly) I would think that I would eat up or glaze my pads before I warped the rotor in a year. Since I am replacing my brakes, is it worth rebuilding the calipers with courtesy's kit? and should I get metal matrix pads (Matt93GXE, I heard some horror stories from you!?!) and JC whitney sent me out some new brake rotors(If they are bad quality, at least JC whitney doesn't question replacing parts) am I wasting my time putting them on? should I go with something more like slotted or drilled rotors from some quality joint?

look just a few lines down and you'll see a post on this page.
(I'll forgive you this time, as the subject line isn't extremely clear. hehe)

about the JC whitney stuff, I don't know what brand of rotors they use, and they could be cheap shit.
I would HIGHLY recommend at least getting the Brembo blanks from carparts.com.
just do a search on part # JBR-505 (as Bill says in his post) and order a pair of those. they're well worth the money.
same thing about the pads.. I dunno what you're using, but they suck..

for the rest of the details, see my post and bill's on the other thread.

about the metalmasters.. that must have been some kind of coating on them at first, either that or my wheels had something on them that was flammable (if you see the roads around here, you won't be surprised!).. now, they will emit sparks under heavy braking, but nothing like they did.. the Metalmasters are metallic pads, so they're going to make some sparks.. when I did a HARD stop from 120 last week with a friend besie me watching, he said sparks were going everywhere..
they were doing the same thing- just fewer sparks- on his stock rotors and semi-metallic pads.
hope that calms your fears about the metalmasters.
