Now Nissan service is really pissing me off...went in for rotors today...
#1
Well, today I went in to get my warped rotors looked at...they have been warped since about 10-12k miles and right now i'm at 16k (haven't had the time)...so i finally go in and leave my car there for 3 hours...i come back 3 hours later and they said they didn't feel anything...i told him to put a person who wasn't in a coma in my car and they would be able to feel it...so i drove this technician around and he said he could feel it...he went over to the service advisor and they talked for about 5-10 minutes...finally they came over to me and the service advisor told me that my rotors were warped, but they think it was because my calipers are painted red and that made the rotors warp...i told them to prove it to me boyond a shadow of a doubt and i told them that if nissan has this tsb out for the rotors, they must be wapring on their own...my rotors were also warped before i painted my calipers red, but not very severely...since then, i have done a couple of 100mph braking sessions...they told me to contact nissan and if nissan tells me differently, they will go ahead and do it...they also said i can get a different opinion from another dealership...what should i do? if i do get new rotors, they will warp eventually...i can get a wilwood(sp?) big brake kit for $1100...how much are just stillen drilled/slotted rotors and ss lines? and maybe some metal matrix brake pads? i don't want to go with the brembo kit since it is around $3k, but the wilwood kit seems reasonable and comes w/ all 4 replacement rotors and calipers for $1100 (i'm almost positive it's all 4, don't quote me on that, though)...i would rather wait on getting any sort of new braking system and finish up with everything else i want to do first, but warped rotors are getting annoying...should i give nissan usa a call? when i told the service advisor that "i was told that you have to prove to me without a shadow of a doubt that this modification caused this to go bad" he said that wasn't true...wtf? should i start going to a different dealership? this is the "nice" dealership around (by nice i mean more luxurious, not nicer cars or anything)...i've been to one other dealership and the service advisor was a complete a$shole and wanted me to get pissed off...what should i do? i was planning on a fstb, rsb, and hids soon but should i put all of that off and do brakes?

Warped Rotors
I've got a hint that should work wonders but will need a couple of weeks. Write a formal letter of complaint and send it certified to Nissan. At the bottom of the letter cc the dealership involved (including service advisor or manager) and send them a certified copy also. Go the extra mile by including the Service Bulletin......and a copy of the record of visit today. (bill, invoice, workorder) Chances are the dealership will get involved prior to Nissan coming back as they do not want QCS scores to go down. Don't forget to be nice but specific and include the remedy requested and reason for original turndown. If your pads are good, painting calipers cannot be used as decline as the calipers do not directly contact the rotor.
cc. the Better Business Bureau also....gets in all the time!!!

The dealer surprised me.
I stopped by the dealer yesterday to get a few things checked out. I told them about my warped rotors and they told me that it wont be a problem. They'll check it out. They said that they'll test drive it first and then take the brakes apart to see if they are actually warped. If they are warped, it'll be replaced under the 3yr/36k warranty. If it warps again in the future, it'll be replaced as long as the warranty hasn't expired.
I didn't even need the tsb. Hmmm.
I'm shocked b/c I was expecting them to give me a hard time. Only problem is I have to wake up at 6AM to bring it in.

Didn't go back after that for about 2 years until Yesterday(Monday). New staff... They were pretty nice too...
I went to Star since it was only 2 blocks away from my house and I didn't feel like driving all the way to Biener in Greatneck.

Re: Re: which dealer did u go?
I just came back from the dealer. Spoke to the service manager today. Apparently, brakes are only covered until 12,000 miles/ 1 year. Well that's what he said. I have 10k so it's being fixed along with 2 other problems.
