I've got the stock wheels on my 1993 SE 5spd and this spring I'm going to put some 17 inch rims with Dunlop 225/55/17.

Does this setup slow you down during acceleration or will I most likely have more grip of the grid because right now my tires spin like crazy (4 seasons)

yea bigger heavier wheels will slow you down some even if they grip better, its somehting called like "inertial blablabla" i once saw someone describe it as trying to use a shovel but instead of holding it toward the bottom u hold it at the top and its alot harder to use so i guess that compares wiht a spinning wheel.....make any sense?? it was hard for me to understand tat first and tis hard to explain =)

i'm still in physics so all this is fresh in my head :-)

compare it to adding weight to your car. except the weight increase has to go around in a circle as well as foreward. get lighter bigger wheels and you get the best of both worlds
