Does anybody know if its reasonably possible to fit a 2000 engine into a 92 auto?

possible? maybe.
reasonable? No. for MUCH less money, you can modify your stock VG engine to produce as much if not more power than the 222hp VQ.

(a new 2k max engine will probably cost your around $5k. you can do a turbo conversion for around $3500. supercharge for about $4k.)

A new engine may be $5000 but right now a 1999 engine with 7000 miles goes as used parts for around $1300 so lets say in about six months we may find a 2000 engine for around 1800 then with supercharger it will be have an interesting performance in a 3rd Gen .
