Gas guage faulty??

Hey i have a 94' SE and when i was driving back on the highway yesterday i noticed i had a lil' over a 1/4 of a tank......then a few minutes later i noticed that the needle was way past the empty sign but my Fuel light wasn't on then later when i got home i looked at it again and it was a little above the Empty line i dunno maybe a sensor is messed up is it a easy fix??
Thanks

I have the exact problem with my 89' SE. I believe the gas tank has some kind of floating sensor to tell how much gas is in there. I have no clue how they mess up, but I would love to fix this annoying problem. Anybody have an idea?

I heard the same thing about the floating sensor. It sucks b/c my gauge always reads full. So the float is in the tank?
