Meineke muffler vs magnaflow muffler?????

ok guys basically my cat back is all rusted out its the stock one so its just normal but I failed inspection due to my muffler being loud yeah it has some rust spots on it. So today me and my friend went to check out exhaust shops. I went to my family mechanic and just for stock replacement its 250. Then we went to a meineke and they said for a after market muffler with the I pipe it would be 330 but thats a meineke after market muffler and the guy said its better than magnaflow. now i have no idea about a meineke muffler. So should i get the magnaflow or the meineke

the magnaflow will be much louder than stock. don't know about the meineke though. if you don't want the noise and drone, don't get the magnaflow.

i use a magnaflow, no complaints at all. there are 2 versions or types you can get. racing and street, racing is louder like a ricer muffler, and the street has a deeper tone and you can hear it grumble at higher rpms. all in all im pleased with it

i have magnaflow. it is throaty and impressive. not rice. i have street version. it seems that meineke and magnaflow are like apples and oranges, different planets. both are good. meineke seems like for soccer mom. a tuner would not brag or be caught dead with meineke. there are probably enthusiasts on here who have meineke and are fully pleased, as that brand is pretty nice. but i would not sleep well at night knowing i had that.

Have you looked at Cattman and the other companies that offer exhaust systems on line for the max?

I have a Magnaflow on my 200, and it sounds real nice, very quiet, very deep. Got the whole custom catback, with mandrel bent pipe, all done for $229, including the Magnaflow Muffler. Thats with 2.75" pipe. Of course, it could cost more to do a Maxima cuz it's FWD or somethin, but I don't see why. Shop around a little more and see what you can find.

i agree with the others. i have the race series magnaflow muffler its not rice at all. it has a nice deep throaty growl to it, only when the gas is pressed otherwise its mellow and pretty quiet. i get nothing but compliments on it. Definitely doesnt sound like a ricers exhaust from ur avg ordinary civic or what not buzzing around. It does drone a little but its not like one of those annoying ones that give headaches or anything like that. I'm happy with it. If you want to reduce the loudness of the sound u can always get a silencer or resonator for it. if u want a more stock or quiet sound go for like a muffler of one of the newer max's alot of people have them on the org and perhaps u can find one used for cheap. oh and i think warpspeed performance has decent prices on stock replacement mufflers. good luck with the search.

I would advise against getting the Magnaflow "Street Series." I've had one before and they sound better than stock for sure, but not when revved. Mainly I wouldn't get one though because they are much more suited to 4cyl. engines, if even that. They have a tube inside to decrease noise and that necks it down to right around 1.5" Much less than the recommended 2.5" If you like that style and are concerned at all with performance, go race series or with a universal.
