Fuel Injector out - any ideas for replacement

To Anyone out there-

Apparently one of my rear fuel injectors is out. I took the 92 SE (manual) to my mechanic and he said that it will be about 5 hours labor and $115 for a new injector. He recommended replacing the other two b/c Nissan's are known to have bad injectors.

Any thoughts? Is this the right direction to go? Are there injectors (brand name) that are better than others?

and...will new injectors help my performance any?

I would do some more research but I'm at work and don't have the time.

thanks for the help.

shop some more. get a new injector. you can find them for about $70 if you look around. and know somebody. just replace the one. replacing all of them at this time would be great, but that is major cash. (why replace the rear 3 and not all of them, then?) i recently had a bad injector and i just replaced only the one. your cash situation will determine all car repair choices. there is the ideal repair, and there is the real repair.

about other injector brands, i have no idea. unless you are doing a major boost project like a supercharger, just stay with factory. of all modding you may do, namely bolt-on things, the factory fuel injectors will the be last thing you need to think about 'upgrading.'

i believe acouple of people have bought injectors from here http://store.yahoo.com/dpstore/nismaxsohreb.html they are much cheaper and if you plan on keeping the car replace all six because more wll go out eventualy and it will make your car run normal again but not make it any faster

Speaking from personal experience, replace them all. I had one go out, payed $200 bucks tohave it replaced, then 2 months later 2 more went out. Had the same problem with my CRX, seems like when one goes the rest arn't too far behind... I put in a set of venom's myself and they have been workin fine for 40k miles so far. Find yourself a mechanicly inclined friend if your not, it helps! BTW nopi also has remans for $30 a pop here's the link...

Here's a link to a write up on how to do replace the injectors on a VG. I'm not sure on the differences but it will at least give you an idea on what your gettin in to.
