Seatbelts

Is there way to convert the motorized seatbelts to manual seatbelts?

Not that I know of. But with the right amount of money, anything is possible.

Speaking of seatbelts, did you know that you had to wear the lap belts along with the motorized ones? I didn't 'till a cop told me that and gave me a ticket.

converting the seatbelts will be a major pain. i just took all of my kickplate and related panels off the other day to clean under them, and i saw the motorized seatbelt assembley. you'll have to yank that, then try to figure out how to install a new solenoid there for the tensioner, then convert the two belts to one... then fashion a new buckle to accomodate both straps, ugh. just get a new car.

Fellas, take my advice. USE THE LAP BELT! I was involved in a head on 50MPH collision in my 91SE, and I was using both my lap belt and shoulder belt. Thanks to that, doctors say that I'm lucky, cause most people with cars with automatic seatbelts don't use the lap belt and they aren't so lucky, and if they are, they have major damage to internal organs. I was just lucky enough using both belts to come out with 4 fractured ribs (I'm 6'2 350lbs). I also have contusion from the auto belt, but those will heal. If you guys want to see what became of my car go to my Yahoo Briefcase I can't stress the importance of both those belts. I tell my passangers to use them too. Take my advice, the life you save will be your own.

wow that was a brutal accident. glad you lived to type about it.

i always wear the lap belt... i feel strange without it. the auto seatbelts work for me -- i.e. they remind me to fasten the lap part. i'm more likely to forget the seatbelt entirely in a car with normal belts.

DAMN....I'm glad you're okay though! I never owned a car with auto belts, so I guess that's why I never really thought about it. But I will now!

how the heck did the cop catch you, it's not like he can look over and see that? If he was giving you a ticket for something else and added the seatbelt to it, I would have just told him that you took it off after he pulled you over so you could reach into the glove box for the registration and stuff.

I think he was just looking for something to give me a ticket for. I was out and I guess he was just harassing me 'cause I wasn't from there.
