what would a jwt reprogramed ecu give me over an apexi afc 2?

yes JWT is "better"...the SAFC won't modify the ignition maps. but you can't even really compare the two because their purposes differ greatly

They are two different beasts. The S-AFC is just a fuel adjustment device. It tricks the ECU into seeing more or less air flow then there really is. The down side while it does that the ecu can also advance or retard timing in non-benificial ways because it is seeing something that isn't really there. In a worst case scenario it can lean the fuel curve and advance the timing.

The JWT is a replacement ECU that carries closer to proper fuel and timing maps. I say closer becasue they are only approximations of what mods like yours have done on other cars they've dyno'd. The main feaure is that you're not tricking the computer to do anything. It's reading the sensors directly and making decisions based on that. The S-AFC intercepts the MAF signals and lies to the ECU about it.

I've used both type of units and have to say that if you're just trying toget a little more street performance, the S-AFC is probably fine. If you're getting semi-serious about quarter mile times the JWT is probably good enough. If you're REALLY serious the you need a standalone ecu, some serious dyno time and a different car.

i have the apexi s-afc 2 but i'm not sure it's controlling the fuel correctly. i either don't have one of the wires correct or i don't have one of the settings correct. apexi doesn't have our cars nor the z31 300zx's listed in the booklet that comes with it so setting it up is somewhat difficult. if anyone has set one up successfully PLEASE let me know!
