Standing outside the car, key in hand, yet still running....

So the other day I park my maxima and turn the key off to realize that my car is still running.
Slightly confused I get out of my car and look under the hood. My girlfriend notices me outside the car with it still running and asks me why the reverse lights are on on my car. I just blew that off and focused at the problem at hand. I decide that the easiest way to stop the car is to try and find a fuse to pull. So I do and pull the Engine Control fuse and the car stops. I talk to my mechanic friends and they all tell me to check the ignition switch. Since I've been busy I haven't had time so I have just been driving it and pulling the fuse when I want the car to turn off. One day I pulled the fuse without the key in the off position and it keeps running. So out of pure curiosity I leave the fuse out and the car starts and stops just normal. I'm not a mechanic in any way so.... how is that possible???

I can do that too, but that's because my ignition is stripped so I can take my key out while it's running.

Reminds me of a movie I once saw many years ago about trucks that was possessed by an evil spirit or something. Their headlights would come on, the engine started by itself, then it went on a murderous rampage...

So be afraid. Be very afraid! :

Actually, the movie he mentioned is Stephen King too, I think it was "Maxximum Overdrive" or something like that, it had Emilio Estevez in it
