Changing over the A/C

ok the search function has been disabled so im going to post this, What exactly do I need to do a R-134 A/C change over. I live in STL and it is freakin hot with a 110 heat index lately and 100% humidity. Im just gettin tired of riden around with the windows down. My A/C is almost totaly drained as it seems, when I turn it on it does not get cold at all but I know the A/C compressor is kicking on.

there's a right way to do it and a wrong way.

to do it correctly you need to find out where your leak is. repair that. then replace the orifice tube and the reciever/drier and flush everything out. at the same time you should replace necessary O-rings.

after that recharge with PAG/Ester oil and R134-a.

the wrong way is to fix the leak and just recharge the system with R134-a and call it the day.

also after repairs run a vacume to see the system is air tight prior to recharge.

Ninty-two-se - i know you're trying to help..but let's give the members helpful information instead of misinformation.

You're right... I cant believe I forgot about all that stuff... my bro took it to the shop to get the tubing fixed and thas the last I delt with it so I forgot about replacing the vitals... My bro did it the wrong way and blew out his condenser or compressor or something like that on his sentra and had to get a whole new a/c system, which was not a cheap deal...

Now on the can it says to use with synthetic oil only, does that mean in the engine or in the moving parts of the a/c system?

sorry for the misinformation jmrader...
