got my e36 headlights installed!!!!!

whats up everyone
i finished installing my e36 headlights a few nights back. i used the factory bmw brackets instead of hacking my stock ones to death. lemme know if you have any questions about that or any other questions about my install or if you want to see some picks.

oh yeah and instead of chopping my old wiring harness off, i took an old 9004 bulb and made an adapter. lemme know if you have questions about that too.

this way, if i decide i dont like them anymore or i want to sell them, i can go back to stock cost free!

I want to know how you modded the bmw brackets and how long it took, also do you have any ball park figures on how much the whole conversion set you back... How much different are the dementions for the Bmw headlights from the maxima? If you have pics I'd be interested to see those too... If I do this I will take pics so as to not have a worthless thread.

sorry, my computer blew up, like literally! thats why i havent been able to reply.

anyways, this is the best picture i have. i know, its not the greatest with the lights on but it IS the best out of all the other ones. the other one is all glared and blurry. ill get more up soon along with pics of the bmw bracket and my custom wire harness.

enjoy!

as you can see, or if you look hard, the light looks like its angled down in towards the center of the car. it is, alittle because of the grill. i still need to work on that a bit.

i modded the bmw brackets carfully. just keep cutting away at parts that are in the way. basically, i put the lights on the bracket and tried to put the lights in correctly. if it didnt really fit, id cut away at the part that was in the way whether itd be the bracket or my car(not much cutting on the car but there was some). some people got the whole job done in like 7-12 hours. all together, id say i took about 15-20. but only because i wanted them perfect! and they are. the corner lights are flush with it all the way up to the grill. everything lines up and both sides are identical and i think thats the hardest part, making both sides look identical. the lights cost me 55(off eBay!!!!!!!!!!!!) and they came with silverstars. the 9005 and 9006 plugs are like $5 at pepboys and practically free at a junk yard(not that i stole them, i guess they just didnt want to charge me like $0.25 for each one or whatevers). some old 9004 bulbs were free too! as for dimensions, the e36 lights are about 1/4 inch shorter in height and 1/8 inch longer in length. so they will fit pretty nicely with some cutting here and there and some screaming and yelling of bad words now and then.

ok, i found another picture. hope this ones alittle better. this one you can really see that the lights are angled downwards towards the center. its the grill, i need to shave more off that top corner of the grill. when its all done, i made it so the top of the lights line up with the top of the corner lights to the top of the grill so it looks flush and clean.

Does anybody know where I can find a write-up on this headlight swap?!?

I recently installed elipsoid projectors + HID's in my 97 M3... was looking to sell my headlights and heard about this retrofit! My daily driver is a 93 Maxima, so I am definately interested!
