you guys with ebay/autozone cone filters

did you oil it? i still have a half bottle of that K&N filter oil remaining from my drop in k&n filter. the filter element isn't oiled, as some of you may know. i figure a light coat of that oil won't hurt. any input? thanks.

i wouldnt if its the paper filters. they arent designed to have the oil pu on them. if its the "like k&n " oil filters then i guess it cant hurt but wont do much.

hmm, can't really tell if it's paper. looks like cotton.

did you use any gasket between the adapter plate and MAF?

not at first but then it whistled and sounded like turbo spooling up....sounded cool for abit then i felt like a ricer trying to play off a turbo so i bought thin rubber gasket material and used a hobby knife and custom made the gasket to fit. sounds good now.

My 1st cone filter was one of those. It came in a box marked ARC (looks like A1C because of the goofy logo typeface). I emailed the guy I bought it from about the same question. He said no, it doesn't get oiled, and yes, it is cotton. I'm thinking "ok, but it's the kind of cotton they use for paper." It's not the nice open cotton gauze you get in a K&N filter. You should be able to tell the difference. The cheap filter looks less porous than a K&N. Plus, the filter media was blue!

I used the cheap one for six months or so, then bought a K&N to replace it. You can find the real thing on Ebay, too, for around $65 (with an aluminum MAF adapter).

Good luck with it!
