Thinking about auto to manual but is it worth it.

Ok guys i really want a manual and i love my maxima and love the 3rd gens but i was wondering if i should go ahead and drop in a manual in my 89 maxima. Its has 180k on it with rust and a slight dent in the back. Now what i was wondering if i should go ahead and do the conversion or save up and look for a better 3rd gen. The only thing that is really bothering me is the rust on the car i have it in more than one place. But theres always of me going to a auto body shop and letting them fix up my maxima. I really love her and i dont know how it would be to get rid of her and get another maxima????

I would say save up a little and buy a 5-spd VE. You will not only move out of your "autotragic" but you will be increasing hp, as well.

It sounds like your car isn't really worth the time and money to do a conversion. I don't know about where you live, but about once or twice a month I find a VE 5-spd advertised in the paper. Just save the money and have patience.

there are always Maxes for sale in the NY/NJ area. Unless you've got an attachment to the one you're driving now, I suggest trading up to a VE 5 spd, or at least another Max in better condition.

skin cancer and general dent removal get extremely expensive. by the time you pay to do that, you could have sold the one you've got and bought one in better shape for the same money.

dont do it, you could almost afford a VE 5spd for the amount of money you will put into the conversion. That kinda mindset is why i never did it either

The first saving step should be to cancel your ISP.

If you have the tools and time to do it, you can do it for around 1k, if not a shop will be around 2-2.5k

i agree i drove an auto VG for the first time the other day and it was like night and day between that and my VE 5spd. after driving that id never buy a vg auto or a VE auto for that matter. at any rate you will love a VE 5spd trust me on this.

It's not necessarily at lot of money to do the conversion if you can do it yourself.
