steering problems
I have a 90 maxima se 215,000+ miles..........
Lately I have noticed that when I make a right hand turn the steering wheel does not come all the way back to the center, its off by a 1/2 inch.........I will be driving straight ahead with the steering wheel off center.......
Now, here is the weird part.....
when I get a chance to make a left turn the steering wheel will come back to the center and stay there until i make a right turn again...
also i would like to add that when the steering wheel is straight on the car seems to be very stable, but when the steering off the car feels little wobble....
I had the front end checked and they say they don't see anything wrong...the struts are brand new, a new axle, a new ball joint....
I did noticed that it happened after they change the axle and ball joint, I brought it back and they said everything was tight....
Could it be that the alignment is off????
please help
Thanks

As the previous member suggested, get an alignment and check the rack.
If the rack and pinion bushings are weak, the entire rack will move from side to side as you negotiate turns. Check to see if you have any oil leaking onto the rack bushings against the firewall, in most cases this is usually the culprit.

THANKS
I'm going to have the alignment done again,
an alignment was done after installing the axle and ball joint
when they did the ball joint and axle they must of messed up the alignment, the mechanic did something wrong.............
no oil leaks on the rack, but i will have it checked..thanks again
