Just bought VE engine!

I just bought a VE engine for my 92SE a few days ago on ebay. It has about 70k on it and the guy says it runs perfect. I am probably going tear it down before I put her in just to make sure everything is in good shape. It has all the same specs since it is VE30DE and it has all the accessories on it. Oh yeah, I only payed $325.00 for it!

no

they make them for the VG, so you will have to use VG rods, as VE pistons have larger connecting pins.

Welcome to the Spare VE in the garage club.

What about VG30DE pistons? The engine has the same bore and stroke as the VG30E and VE. I know to get it in the VG30E you have to swap the rods as well but I'm not sure about the VE.

I got it last week. I bought it from fasnova on ebay. He does live in Ohio. The engine I bought was for a standard transmission...........So, to bore my VE .30 over I would have to buy more than just the pistons? It was just an idea, but if I have to buy more than just the pistons than I won't do it. I am still going to tear it down and make sure everything is cool before I drop it in.

depending on the specs for the VG30DE, you might be able to use VG30DE pistons in the VE, if the connecting pin's are the same size.

I know that the VG30E has a smaller connecting pin than the VE, so you need to buy new rods and pistons if you go that route.

if you can, ask the machine shop how much they think you could safely bore it over, I'd like to see what they say.

We should ask some of the locals up here what they could bore your motor over.

SR20DE's are $350 for a 40,000 mile JDM! Thats cheaper than an exhaust/CAI combo!!

Too bad V6's have to be so much more expensive...

not really. you can find good deals all over the place. I got my jdm VG30ET for 500 dollars and my friend got his VG30DET for the same 500 dollars. I felt jipped, lol... not really. I thought it was a great deal.

You could always get the VG30DETT internals and boost your VE... mmm 600 hp capabilities of the TT internals. speaking of internals, is the VE's crank cast or forged?

I started tearing down the engine yesterday. So far, I got the Intake, Exhaust, and the heads off. They all look pretty good, just need to be cleaned BIG time. The fuel rail still had fuel in it and the injectors look good.

are you going to rebuild the VTC's while you have it apart? It may be advisable to do it while it is all apart.

LOL...Yeah it would save a lot of time while it's already apart. I will check them out and I'm sure I will rebuild them.

you can ususally find full head gasket kits that has every gasket needed to do the heads. there are usually quite a few on ebay for under 100 dollars.

Thats what is sorta weird, being the VE packs more horsey's which should create more demand for it. I can't complain though, I have a VG... But the more and more I think about it, the more i want to sell this and get a 92-94 SE. Engine swap isn't my favorite option accounting for the downtime.

internetautomar will be along once he gets home. Then he will either see this thread, or I will pester him about it.

I saw the napa one online. Haven't asked about it in the store though. I'm sure they have them, or can get them.

Send me a link next time you see one for under $100. I'm manufacturer direct as well as distributor for corteco and heck we pay more than that for the 3rd gen gasket sets.
