PowerLocks why! (help)
PowerLocks why! (help)
i had a 94 gxe. with it, i could press LOCK DOORS on the inside of the door above the handle and it would lock all the doors. i step out the car and shut my door and the locks stay locked. and then if i wanted to i could unlock them with the doorpad code or my key. with my key, if i turned to the left once it would open just my door, and twice, it would unlock all them
with my current 1990 gxe. i press LOCK DOORS and it locks all the doors, and when i step out and shut my door, all the locks pop up so the doors are all unlocked. WHY!? WTF!....so i have to press LOCK on the doorpad for them all to lock. when i use my key to unlock, i just have to turn it to the left once and all the locks unlock. so this difference i dont mind. but the one where the doors unlock when the doors shut if i press LOCK DOORS, that sucks.
is this the way its suppose to be? how do i fix it? keep in mind i still have my 94 maxima but its in my back yard and the body is ****ed up and its off the road but i can still use it for parts in case i need them.

if you press the locking thingy on the door near the window (forgot the technical term for it) lets call it the lock ****.... it should lock all the doors. now, to keep them locked, you must have the handle on the door out (like you are opening it) when you shut it. that keeps the locks down. it's kind of a safety thing to keep you from locking the keys in the car (much good it did me
)
good luck!
)good luck!
If you've ever ridden in other people's cars, you should know that on some cars, you must pull up on the door handle for that door to stay locked while you close the door. Some cars you don't have to. In this case, you have to pull up on the handle while you close it otherwise all the doors will be unlocked. If you don't like this, you would have to re-engineer the door lock mechanism.
or buy a 92-94se (and possiably GXE).
My mustang does that door lock thing... I hate it. It's funny, I tear apart engines and do all this mechanical work, but my dad had to simply explain to me why the hell my door wouldnt lock.

how do i re-engineer the door lock mechanism? i want to do it. this sucks
in my 92 GXE, the doors stay locked..and you can sit in the car with the keys in the ignition and all doors shut and lock the doors and they stay locked..but if you leave the keys in the ignition and have somone in the back seat lock the doors with no one in the front seats, they pop back up immediately..same thing if you leave a window down with keys in the ignition and lock the door while you're inside, they stay locked..but if you stand outside and lock them through the window they pop back up..
