true, but Matt93SE goes to the track on a slipping clutch and it actually works to his benefit. It just depends, Sometimes it can help because it can change your gearing (in a sense), but other times it can hurt because your waiting and waiting and waiting for it to hook up and put the power to the ground.

im no 5 speed guy, but peeps r right, u should b in the 14's w/ those mods...im a stock auto and in cool weather i trap 88mph....is your timing advanced? maybe thats where u is losin...

I'm going to say it again, the VE is fastest between 140-170 degrees for coolant. Anything above 170, you will only get slower. My coolant temp gauge is essential for my car. I am VERY dependent on it now.

Ok well I finally ran my ve for the first time. Here is the result. Conditions. Night time from 8-9:30pm. Stuck in traffic for 1 hour bumper to bumper but moving 15 mph, for 15 miles on the nj turnpike to the drag strip.
That was the first thing i posted up... my max had no time to cool off.. also i think my thermo is messed up, cause i was driving with the heater on full blast all the way and my needle did not budge.. also want to add that my max is burning oil, i have to add 1 quart every week or so.... damn dont know what to do.. i thank everyone for backing me up by saying that my max could and should run 14's with these mods, just ****ed off that i can. time to updarde to my fly wheel and act clutch and see how it goes from there.. if not i am gonna beat the shiet out this engine and tranny and get a jdm one , but before i do that i am gonna add nos to see how much this old engine can hold... 50-75 shot??? lol.. i am just p o right now i'll do anything to get it to run.. yes i know more money to spend down the road..
also my motor munts are shot and my lower control arms are done also.. i guess that can have an effect on my 15.56 run... so i say maybe .2-.3 tenths off and heck mybe with my suspension swap over maybe another .1 just wishfull thinking

Izzy, is it an oil leak or is it burning oil? Have you done a compression test? Hopefully its just a bad seal, if its burning then your going to want to have a new engine in the garage and a AAA card handy before you get on the happy gas.

1. Unless it's a blue bottle sold by Holley, its not NOS.
2. The only reason why I worry about Izzy's engine if its actually burning oil (and also what the compression test shows) is that if hes having Blow-By problems, it would not be smart to run Nitrous on the engine and probably wouldnt be the most accurate way to see what the engine can handle. However, he is aware of what can happen, so I say as long as he has the engine setup properly for the shot he wants to run, he's good to go. So long as he doesnt lean out, he will be able to get a really good idea for how far to push the engine. Plus almost all of that support hardware will be needed for a turbo project.
Also its a matter of load too, just adding an extra 55-75 hp to the engine isn't going to hurt a thing. Its if the engine has a low load, it will be a breeze for the engine, but if it has a high load it will put more stress on it. Run a good motor oil and filter at regular intervals and you will cut down on possiable bearing wear, cylinder, and other engine wear resulting from the higher loads. Think of a turbo making 10psi with a granny driving it, or a turbo making 10psi with one of us driving it . .

I know this is so first page ago but...
The last time I checked double clutching it what OLD TRACTOR Trailers and other Unsyncronized big trucks had to do to stop the syncs in order to shift to the next gear (up or down) I have not heard of an unsyncronized car??????????

I won 1st and last race. I think I fu(ked up my clutch even more today at the Rhode Island Meet here in the NE section after doing some highway runs. my clutch is gone, my rotors and pads are gone, metal on metal braking.

With me including 1/4 tank of gas
With out me but still junk in the maxima 1/4 tank gas
