New member with91' Max with 125K miles. What to fix?

Hi guys, I'm new to this board. Right now I'm going to School in Philadelphia, glad to meet you all. I drive a 91' Maxima, auto that has 125K miles on it. I recieved this vehicle from my mom about 10K miles ago. It had all maintenance performed by a Nissan dealership before i got it. Since I've gotten the car, I've only been changing the oil, and it passed inspection. Other than that I really haven't been taking care of the car. The reason that I haven't been bringing it back to the dealer is because I'm a broke college student and the dealerships charge an arm and a leg for anything. And I don't have my own mechanic or anything, you guys have any suggestions in the Philly area? So I was wondering if you guys could give me some suggestions of what to change or check, I'll probably end up bringing it somewhere to get tuned up, but I want to take care of much of it by myself and save some cash. One particular problem are that when it is really cold, the auto tranny won't shift out of third gear, but after driving for a while, it shifts fine. Any other suggestions? So far I only have an Intake and a Courtesy FSTB on the vehicle as far as mods. I only got the adapter plate and airfilter, but not the pipe. Anyone know where I can find a aluminum pipe that goes before the MAF Sensor? I saw it in a pic in one of your guys sig's. Oh and I have some Audio stuff for sale if you guys are interested. A barely used Orion HCCA 250R amp, three new 10" XTR Pro dvc subs, a new Alpine 5 channel amp(forget the model number) and a new pair of Alpine SPR 6.5 compenent set speakers for sale. Sorry this thread was so long, thanks for any help.

As far as maintenance goes, the most important thing is the timing belt. I think the general opinion is to replace it every 60k miles. I don't take my car to the dealer. I just replaced the timing belt, and I fix anything else when it starts to cause problems. I trust my mechanic, and he catches most things (CV boots, brake lines, etc.) when he inspects the car.
From what I have gleaned here, your car stays in 3rd gear to help the engine warm up. That is intended design...
