car backfiring

car backfiring

hey guys whenever i would hit the brake or put the car in park, the car would back fire, any ideas what it could be,, and ai also have new spark plugs, what are the chances of one of them messing up, any help will do thanks

what is a disrtibutor, and if i had to replace it, is it expensive

The distributor is what tells, mechanically, which cylinder to fire.
By being loose I mean that a bolt that is supposed to hold it in place is not tightened all the way allowing the distributor to move and change timing by itself.

here is a picture of my engine bay. the distributor is underneath the cover that is circled in red, labeled "ECCS." gently pull the small tab towards you, then lift the cover towards the right. it will pop off.

pretty simple to fix, it happened to me, plus two of the spark plugs that came with it were really screwed
