Changed oil this past weekend...

Changed oil on my 1 week old car to me, with 10W-30 Synthetic and it runs smoother, and the ticking sound decreased. Yeah for that, now next on to the knock sensor, terrible acceleration......Then I can really find out what the Max is all about...

Nope, I did not replace the crush washer but no leaks found. I'm rocking a Fram oil filter.

HTH,

Henri

HTH,

Talk to me before you do a knock sensor or VTCs or what not. I'm in Atlanta and I've already done all this stuff to my 93 SE 5spd.

STP makes a good quality filter and they're very cheap. Less than 3 bucks.

I was gonna get a mobil 1 filter and then I read the price: 11.99! WTF??? I bought 5 quarts of Castrol GTX and an STP filter for the same price!

I have used the Toyota filter noted in the stickies and I've seen some improvement in my terrible VTC knock. I still have the knock, but it seems to go away more often now.

I think the NAPA Gold filters are also supposed to be good. Ask MrGone about those, he lives in NAPA.

The Napa Gold's are the same as the Wix filters, which are really good. IIRC K&N uses the wix filters too, but the only difference is they have a 1" nut on the bottom of the filter. Also after my next oil change I am going to buy a Napa Silver and tear it apart along with the Napa Gold (PN#1361 btw ), I want to see if there is any difference, I've heard that the Napa Silvers are now the same Wix filters.
