93 door key code?

I bought the car used and I was wondering if anyone knew how to bypass the door code so that I may be able to use it. The previous owner has no idea what the code is as they never used it? I heard that the dealer charges a fee for retrieving this code.

Also, is the 93 GXE a timing belt or a chain?

Since the search feature is down, I'll answer this, but be advised I'm doing it all from memory and I'm somewhat feeble minded.

1. Lay on your back on the passenger side floor and look up under the dash to the right of the glove box. Should be a small black (or maybe brown) box under there with an eight digit code on it. Write the code down and then follow the directions in the owner's manual on programming the door. Don't have an owner's manual? Hit the 'clear' button, punch in the eight digit code, listen to some beeping sound, then enter your own four digit code. Should be a confirmation beep or something. Can't use codes like 1123 because the 1 and the 2 are on the same button. Clear as mud?

2. It's a belt. Replace it if you're the slightest bit unsure that it's ever been done.

yeah lay down with your head under your glove box...look to the left side and you'll see a box with a sticker on it. my box was gold...it should be a code like S8464893 or something like that. type that in, s means the start key, then if you did it write it should beep for 10 seconds, within that 10\ seconds type in the code you want, mines a 4 digit code, and to use it everytime hit the s key then your digits. you can then use 1 to open the trunk after you put in your code, or press 5 and hold it to roll the windows down, and when you leave your car, just press 9 to lock it all up

If you take out all the screws in your glove compartment and take it fully out, the control unit for the door code is on your extreme right. The master code will be on the unit, and it will be the bottom 7-digit code that starts with "S".

Remember that you have to click the C/ST button before entering the code. After that, the control unit will give you a high-pitched noise to tell you that the code is in correctly.

As for how to put in your own code, I have a thread that I just opened not 5 minutes before I saw yours asking for help. I'm waiting on someone else to tell me how to have it save my custom code....I gave you all I had, sorry I couldn't help more....
