BURNING smell.....92 SE

I have a strange issue.....whenever I park my car after having driven (whether a little or a lot), and open the door to get out, I smell something that seems unmistakably like plastic/rubber burning, or being really hot. When I open the hood, smell gets stronger. It always dissipates within a few minutes.
A friend of mine has an '87 Max and the exact thing happens to him, and he's been driving it that way for years!
Any idea on what's going on? I don't want to end up with a fried harness or something worse......
Thanks all!

Do you have any leaks?
It's probably your belt overheating.
or in my case my front seal leaks and causes the burning smell from high rpm runs

Yes, my axle seals leak, which I am getting replaced this week. Which belt are you mentioning? Fan?

BTW, someone wrote in a post that you sell wheels off your site. I could not find them on it.....Can you send me a direct link to the page? Thanks!

Perhaps oil on the exhaust manifold? My car has the same smell, and I know thats the cause of it for me, but it could very well be somthin else..

The axle seals are probably the culprits.
Any time you have a leak by a rotating part it tends to stink after a while from higher speeds (part speeds).
Both my jeep and my max have the stink from bad crank seals
one front one rear.

Just my experiences. Feel free to differ
But you'll still be wrong

Oh yeah the wheel link:

You can't order through it, but let me know what you want and We can go from there.
I also have accounts with discount tire, and wheel max

Check to see that nothing has stuck to your exaust / cat / ypipe. One time that happened to my moms car and it was just that she ran over a plastic bag and it stuck to the cat. Everytime that car got hot it would smell.
Worth a look?

its either gonna be oil thats spilt, your belts, something stuck on your exhaust, axle joints, crank joints, or maybe you just left something in the oven. just trying to use my deductive powers to help out.

i had this problem too. a couple of times when i would open the hood, smoke would be coming out of the exhaust manifold area. so when the engine cooled off cleaned the area where the smoke was coming from off (it had layers upon layers of sut) and the smoke and smell were gone.
