About the key... My key is kinda like that... The teeth are worn down probably. I heard you could get a new key at the Nissan dealer, but the ones that I went to don't know anything about that... All they know are shadow keys... I would like some help on where to get the new master keys please...

Your aalternator is on the way out. Check that your battery is holding a charge. If it is, replace your alternator ASAP.

My key is stubborn to open the trunk and slightly stubborn to open the left side, but its because of the teeth being worn down..copies can not be better than the original..I have a spare master key around somwhere I'll start using and hang this one up as the spare..the nearest dealer to me is over 300 miles away, so I can't really ask them any questions..

Hey man wassup? Sounds like an echo in here. I have the same problem. My quick fix was to get an alarm that opens the doors for me and I access the trunk from inside.

Look in the glovebox for the master key code
and have a new one cut from that.

yeah ditto ... my drivers door opens all doors only - not just the drivers door, and my key barely opens the trunk - but not the passenger side...

I had the flashing lights problem on my 300. More than likely you have a knackered battery. Time to replace me thinks!

My key doesn't work in my trunk.
The dealer did cut me a new one from my code for $5 so that's a good deal,
Now I gotta copy it

A. Alternator is dying

B. Me too! It's either the key core is getting worn; this I say because I have a seldomly used valet key that is still hard to unlock the driver's door.

For most of you, it sounds like the dreaded "valet key vs. master key" drama. Especially with all of our cars being 10+ years old, and with the car passing through other owners before resting finally in YOUR capable hands, it's very likely that you have the valet key. Which won't do diddly for the trunk, as we know.

I guess, in the bigger scheme of things, you could just go get yourself a whole new lock set. But whodaflock wants to do THAT?

Washed the car the other day and the locks all froze, set the key on the stove for a few minutes and went back outside inserted hot key into drivers door and opened it.

Must have melted some of the old greasy crud out because it works like new now.

Might want to try it.

I just had a new key cut at the local hardware store for me... only thing that is occasionally fussy is my trunk keyhole.everything else works flawlessly.

I agree on the answer to A being a faulty altenator. Expect your altenator to die at ANY moment. It will leave you stranded. It's a common problem in 3rd gens with that many miles on it and for some reason the brake light comes on along with the battery light.

But, as said above, check to see if the battery is holding a charge. Check to see if the battery is getting a charge from the altenator. It could be your battery not holding a charge or it could be your altenator not providing a charge. It's one of those two things.

The little tabs in your lock cylinder may be wornout. You can pull them out and have them replaced by dealer or locksmith. You may also have a bad cut key. Have a locksmith read the tumbler and make a new key. I broke off my key in the door and had to get it removed. I had the tabs replaced at same time. It works better than it ever did.

I rarely use the key in trunk,I like the buttom method better!!

Nissan will sell you a new trunk lock with a new key that fits it for $50 I think it was. Easy to put in too.
