hybrid intake / MAF adapter

just bought the pop charger / MAF adapter from ebay for our Max, and received the wrong size adapter - bolts won't even line up. (I know, I deserve it)

Any place besides ebay that sells just these MAF adapters? (besides procarparts.com's kit)

Also, PLEASE , anybody that has a link to the VG hybrid intake thread, I would appreciate it...

Thanks guys

your best bet is to use the brass adapter that was previously in your stock air box. thats what i decided on using. instead of tearing my air box apart, i went to a boneyard and pulled one out of a max. that, along with a bunch of other misc small parts for $20. you will have to bend the outer lip to accomodate the new piping though. once you take a look at the stock adapter, you'll undrestand what i mean.

ive used 3 of those ebay adapters i just redrilled all the holes. its easy if you have a drill press but you could still do it with a regular drill

Little Piggie can make you one. I bought an ebay one and it's sitting in my office somewhere collecting dust. Piggie's is in my car now and everything lines up like it's supposed to. PM him to get more info.

might have some issues if you PM him though...think his box is full. But yeah, LittlePiggie makes MAF adapters.

just line up the adaptor with your MAF and redrill, that simple. It is aluminum and easy to drill. They probabally sent you the Sentra adaptor. easy fix

yes you can drill IF there's enough material to drill. i too bought that ebay MAF adapter. i tried turning it and stuff to see where i can drill, but there simply was not enough of the plate to drill.

Heres the run down on my car and my friend (antonthegrey)'s car:

A while ago he bought a K&N cone filter, we made a ghetto CAI with dryer tubing. We also hacked the brass (its not really brass though) adapter. All you have to do is drill out 2 rivets and we kind of bent it inwards alittle since it has a lip that curves outward, you just have to look at it.

Personally I'm just waiting to meet up with John (littlepiggie) to pickup a MAF adapter cause mine works, but I would feel safer with his because I've held it and it is very solid and built well.

arg, sorry I got distracted. Anyway, right now anton now has the modified stock air box, and I have his cone and the brass adapter. He just got tired of the cone, so win win for both of us.

Now I just need to get another 3" coupling and some hose clamps and I can install my PiggieRacing Mid Pipe

I am a bit confused. what is a legit MAF adaptor? If the adaptor can be drilled and does the job then why spend more money for one that is already drilled correctly? I just don't understand why everyone has to have a high dollar intake. If you want a CAI then go ahead and spend the money and get one but I just don't see spending that kind of money on it for minimal gains over a POP

yes it might work if you drill the adapter to fit onto your adapter, but in the long run how will it hold out? will the seal between the adapter and MAF be good enough? like the saying goes, "if you're going to do it, do it right" ...

I have had one on my car for over a year now and it is still holding up great. Maybe one day I will get a CAI but I have other things that I need to spend my money on right now.
