Hood Strut mounts......HELP

I am trying to put new hood struts on my 89 Nissan Maxima. But have a probelm I can get the strut off very easily not rocket science.

The problem is that I can get the mount that is connected to the actual hood to unconnect from the old strut so I can mount the new strut to it. Does anybody know how I can it off the mount it is a bolt that is flat with no head and the bottom of bolt as a nut with a hole in it???? I am stuck and dont know what to do????

Thanks for any suggestions

I just ordered some new ones myself and I am pretty sure that you have to drill out the old connectors. You should have gotten some new hardware with the new struts. I know a few others have done this. Someone else will chime in soon.

I was just thinking about that because I forgot I had a drill. Yes it do come with some hardware like all the bolts but no new mounts going on the hood part itself.

Thanks for the suggestion

Any other opinions??

you're going have to drill out the old rivets on the old adapter and reuse them with the new struts

Take them back and get the ones from Advance Auto parts. I just picked mine up and I did not have to drill at all. It came with the same plate as the OEM on e that attaches to hood. Took me about 20 minutes and cost about $44. I think they sell them online as well. Made by a company called Strong Arm.
