I was thinking about this same thing, but the grilles that came with my Pioneer 6x9s needed to be fitted to the speaker. I'd say, if you didnt care that you broke the grille, just take out the speaker, lay in your trunk, and give it a good punch upwards, then maybe it'd pop off.

AhaHahhaha .. thats a thought.. but i found a website that will do the job. http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalNisMaxRSpk.htm
good stuff.. I came into another problem though, my speaker negative and positive plugs are spaced out farther than the ones that are used in the car. I have clairon speakers and the Positives and negatives are shapped like a T. I just bought a pair of alpines and and the + and -'s are next to each other like a line. So i guess i have to buy a new connector. But if i get REAL layzie then i think im gonna cut all the connectors and whatnot and just solder the wires together.. =)

its easy to do..I just did it tonight to try somthing..

First, you take out the back seat, both the bottom and the back..then you lift up the rear deck cover, and you can unscrew the grilles from under there..you will want an offset phillips screwdriver and a stubby screwdriver..

a great site by craig brace.

note: the tabs on the seat cushion will be hard to pop up at first, but they'll become easier and easier. the seat back will pop up in the same fashion (after you remove those bolts as shown on craig's site).

10 minutes? takes me 5 or less..a no. 3 phillips screwdriver to take the backrest off and my fingers to pry the bottom up..

now, putting the backrest back on is another story..takes me 2-90 min. depending on how cooperative the seat is for the 3 top hooks to ALL snap in..usually get 2 and 1 slips out..

me=speedy gonzales at taking the interior of the max apart , but it takes me a hella long time to put it all back together when I just pile all the screws/bolts together after taking both front seats out, back seats, console, half the dash, and all of the threshholds and pillar trim..don't ask why I did this....

i just left the backrest bolts out. the seat bottom does a good job in holding it in place.

I tried leaving my seats unbolted..added to the massive rattling I already have..

When I was wiring my hyperleds in my trunk the other day (when I had the rear deck off and back seats out), I took the speaker grille off to look at somthin, and I guess when I put it back on, I didn't get one of the screws tight..SHEEEESH that rattles bad, especially since my subs point up in my trunk..I'm gonna wad somthing underneith the edge for the time being until it warms up and dries out a bit so I don't mess up the interior with muddy feet, then its gonna be tightened down..
