Carbon Fiber trunk lids

I was just posting this here because he said he would make them if we could get about ten people. I know that I am interested and I think two others said that they would be too. I haven't contacted them but I will if there is enough interest. The tread is http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....05#post2572205 but you have to go to page 1.

If you are interested you can contact them or me at DSimpson8@yahoo.com or on IM at mo ball skilz and I will get a hold of them.

You'd be better off to get hoods, front fenders and door skins made in CF before you work your way to the back. The back of the Max is already light enough compared to the front end.

I am just gauging interest because the two guys said that they would start one if we had enough interest.

I don't need people opinions.

Might be a cool mod for me sometime down the road, after I have money in the bank to spend on car mods.

Would it be any lighter? From what I saw from the 4-gen trunk lids, they just reskinned the outer sheetmetal and keep the inner steel portion for mounting etc??

Kinda cool looking I guess. But cool enough to replace a perfectly good piece of sheetmetal for? Not for me

they could probably make it so that its the same way of the shaved trunk to keep the contour but i think its gonna be just like the cf hood, i dont think it gonna have steel backing/./.

I would say yes, if I needed it but, Im not sure about how a shaved one would look and how well it would match the contour, or if it would be flat.

i want it to just match the CF hood i have. so i dont really care if its 1000$ im going to buy one. $$$ doesnt hold me back from something i want.

and i think that it'll hold up alright to the weather and so on ... but worst come to worst, it'll be for showing off
its not hard to change a trunk over ... so im going for it

Dan... you and I both know the answer to THAT:

25 people say "heck yeah, I'm VERY interested!!"
-price announced at bling-bling-yada-yada dollars, not including arm-and-a-leg dollars for shipping, handling, and "I-gotta-get-mine" markup-
22 people say "sorry, I'll wait 'til the price comes down or someone sells theirs."
Out of the 3 left, 2 of those BS around so much on getting the money, sending the money, and whatever, that it will eventually NOT be worth it for Jason to even start it in the first place.

I wouldn't mind having one myself. If but for the looks, like Dys. But I'll be honest upfront and say unless it's $100, I couldn't get that kinda money together any time soon.

IF I could afford it and it looked totally factory, I'd consider one to replace my mildly hail damaged one..but, as a HS student with other priorities, I unfortunately can't come up with the cash..$675 every 6 months for liability only insurance with no tickets/accidents kinda limits mods to things under $100, with occasional once every 6 months things for up to $200..wish I could get the cash and help out with getting them..
