Addco RSB owners

So it finally happened... The rsb supports with the u-bracket disconnected from the pos L-bracket attached to the car. Ripped right out of the hole rather than ripping the entire L-bracket off...

I knew this would happen but didn't realize how quick. Many say to weld on a thicker steel L bracket to it and use that. Which method did u do?

I got the welded on brackets. Works fine.

The bracket I used is similar to the one that is used to bolt the endlinks to the hub. I had them welded slightly behind the stock bracket position, allowing the endlink to be nearly perpindicular to the bar

I have an idea on page 4 of my homepage too, if anyone wants to take a look at it, but Matt seems to have something better in store. No hints as to what it is yet though....

Still, Matt did say that my idea should work, and it can be something you do locally if you have welding available, but you're still going to have to scrounge a second link and some metal plate...

I'm pretty sure you can paint it (I did...) as the RSB comes in either a gold anodized or black painted finish.

Brian, I've been meaning to tell you, your idea works great for one of the link thingys, but the other one has bolts going the other direction, so you couldnt weld the triangles to the top of the bolt.

blah blah blah, I still like the idea

Well Matt, as tempting as your offer does in fact sound, I am a bit on crunch for time and money. I'm not sure how long I can handle this titanic feeling on every turn/the clanking against the undercariage on every pothole, especially with these new springs and struts. And if they are worth me waiting, how $$$much$$$ are they worth waiting for?

for the time being, just take the whole RSB off and drive without it. (and slow down for the corners!!).

as for price, I'm not sure an exact number yet, but it's looking to be around $40 for the set. I need to get the parts made, then I'll have an idea. I'm going to start on them Monday. should have a real number by tues or so.

LOL You know, MrGone this is the second time you've mentioned this to me, and I went back to read my page, and found out I already DID mention the fact that you would need to get a second link... (read the paragraph underneath the picture).

....and I also mentioned that again in my above post too....

No, no... I wouldn't do something like that. I tried looking at the page properties, but for some weird reason it only shows the current time....

These are some crappy pics of the first one I made.
You'll notice there are two different heim joints on there... For the "production units," I've ordered a female joint with a stud in it- basically a blend between the two. Unfortunately I didn't have any on hand when I made this piece. I've ordered some and they should be here by Friday.. I'll clean it up and post more pics then, but you can see what this part amounts to.

It will include the angle iron piece and the self-tapping screws that go into the frame rail. just use a hacksaw, grinder, whatever to cut off the old one, then install this one by drilling two small holes into the frame rail and screw the self-tapping screws in and it's mounted! If you wish, you can take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it onto the frame.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry about that though, as I've had the same thing holding my RSB links on the car for two years now and no problems.

Anyway, here's the pics. Again, please excuse the old-school Heim.. it's the only female one I had in the garage at the time.
