Pwr Antenna Replacement Problems...

Hey all,
Today I tried to replace my antenna. I got the chrome retaining nut loose with a pair of bent-tip needlenose pliars, but the antenna won't come out of the hole. I've turned it and nut to the left about a hundred times, but it still only goes up and down a little bit. I have tried turning the radio on and pulling at the same time, but to no avail (The antenna never moved before anyways).
Any suggestions?

Weird, I had no trouble getting mine out, you did remove the seat belt bolt and stuff around it right? Well thats what I had to do to get inside. I was not very fun working in the trunk but it was a quick job. Considering you get the plasitc thing to wrap around the motor with your first try.

No, I didnt move anything in the trunk - I was under the impression (from the 2 write-ups I have on the job) that I wouldn't have to get access to the motor unless the plastic dealy had broken off the old antenna.

Anyone else?!?

If you do hear the motor running, most likely the plastic cable that moves the rod has broken. You will have to take the antenna out disassemble the motor, remove all the parts to the old rod and antenna and then follow the instructions for the new rod.

But I can't get the antenna out, that's what I'm saying. Can I pull the motor out w/the antenna shaft still installed?
Right now, I'm thinkin about just keeping it broken since it's so damn cold... Having a 6" antenna looks better than having a 0-24" one anyways I think...

Yes you can, as long as the antenna is completely retracted. unscrew the top nut and there are a couple of other bolts holding it in from inside the trunk.

Haha, another problem: It's not completely retracted. It's sticking out about 6" and won't go in anymore...
