Places To Hook Up Neon Lights

This is what I want to happen:

-When I turn my car on, the neon lights will turn on using a switch
-Nothing else to be hooked up to it, so pretty much power is only given to it when the car is on.
-I don't want it to turn on when I turn something else on

So the question is, where do I hook it up?

Someone told me that theres a white wire near my right foot when I'm sitting in the seat, and I could hook it up to that. But just incase I don't find that, where else can I hook it up without messing with my electronics too much?

The best place to hook them up is for a fish tank.

Come on guys, I know you have neons in your car... I don't want to mess up my car again, so I want to take advice from people first.

just test the wires with a multimeter to see which one has power with the keys in the acc, turn everything else off at that time.

what color are you puttin on there? you should put a beer sign in the window too

Hook em up with a relay, that way you don't have to worry about overloading a circuit.

Yeah, I remember when neons were the ****. That was back when I was 16! lol Now that I'm a little older, it's nothing but rice to me now! But, if they're tastefully installed, then they're okay.

It's not my parents that spoil me, its my aunt. haha, she knows that I want to work on cars when I get older, so she decided to give me her old '92 Maxima. Has 215,---k on it, and she hopes that it't not in too bad of condition for me to junk it.

i hooked my neons up to the acc wire behind the head unit. that wire went to a switch and from that switch the rest of the neons were powered. i had 4 of them in my car. 1 under each back seat and two up front under the dash where your feet go. it looked pretty good. no fuse ever blew and it still works fine today. if you want cheap neons go to walmart. i got em for $10 each. i know some places are selling them for like $30 each.

goodluck

Do gound effect lights use up a lot of power? I want to get them but don't want to overload my alternator with gauges, my system, and the lights.

i always wanted to put glass in the floor, with neons you could see all the interesting stuff under the road if you do that.

and if you had one of those huge ricer wings with the glass you could fly around and see whats goin on below. the lights might be againts faa rules though

Happy New Years to you too

back on subject, can't you just use a little toggle switch so you can have them on or off?

Thank you Fostage Fan.

yeah I could and I was going to... but... I need power... heh. I just dont want to hook it up to something bad, and break a circuit like I did before. What internetautomar said was an awesome idea. Props on that, but I want something a little bit more easy... Like what CanadianMax and djslinkyz said, was what I was looking for, but I don't know what wires...

So I'm just trying to find that out.

I hooked mine up to my cig lighter and used a toggle switch to turn it off like if I got pulled over or something. Its pretty easy to do and, if you plan on doing a bunch of wire work in the future I suggest you get a wire striper it's really nice to have makes it a lot quicker and easier.
