Starter Motor?

Starter Motor?

i think my starter is gone, all i hear when i turn the key is a ticking sound. Everything has power though.

how much is it to buy a new one and how hard is it to replace? cheers.

I can pull and replace one in under 5 mins.

Brian (Internetautomar) has good prices on them too. My only concern would be shipping charges.

You could also try taking it apart and clean the contacts inside the solenoid. I bet the copper contacts are pitted and the grease is all gummed up. If the contacts are copper on both sides, you might be able to just turn them over. If not, try filling them down so they are nice and shiny
I've tuned up starters on other nissans before but not on my max. Should be the same provided you can get the case off the solenoid. You might want to take the starter case off and see what you can clean up in there.

So THAT would explain why it didnt work when I installed a new one on my ve today!! f@$%$%$% a^% hole @ oreilly ASSURED me they were the same!!! ARRGGHHH!!! The annoyance and the pain of working in this sub-zero temps and finding i=out it doesnt work!! argh!! i'm going to ***** at someone tomorrow!!!

Yup. The VE auto probably uses a 4th gen starter.
