Cheap Ve Cai

seeing the thread that said "Does a 92-94 SOHC CAI fit on a 89 SOHC??" made me do some looking. You can read that thread for all the confusion. Basically the guy had it mis marked and didnt know himself what it was because I emailed him and he said it was for a SOHC when in fact it is a VE (DOHC) CAI. I decided it was cheap enough to take a chance and buy it on picture alone and not description.

Here it is:

As you can see it is for a VE (DOHC) so if you want a cheap intake you can get this one for less than $60 shipped (he is high on his shipping).

Its a pretty nice unit. No dents but it needs to be polished in some areas. I will install it this weekend and take more pics.

It is made of aluminum instead of steal and is 3" diameter like most CAIs are. I am pretty excited because I have wanted a CAI for a while but didnt want to pay so much for something I could make myself for half the price (but was lazy and never did LOL). Well I didnt make this one but for the price it was worth buying.

Just thought I would share. Look for more pics later this weekend.

OH and I know I should probably wait until I install it and make sure it fits like its suppose to before I get too excited but it looks like it will fit fine. We will see.

bloo lol

a regular item on ebay as far as I know. He had like 3 auctions going at the same time when I got this one.

Its labeled as a 92-94 SOHC intake. Liveonspeed or something like that is the seller. Has a buy it now on all the ones I saw for like $39 (but shipping is high so its around 57 shipped or something like that.)

ok people quit whoring up my thread with Dodge stuff. J/K (about the whoring part not the Dodge part LOL)

I installed it tonight and it fits great. The filter seems to be in the correct location (I cant tell since I have no fender on LOL. It clears the fuse box on the side but I did have to notch the batter box just a little (very little).

Here are some pics. I will post more tomorrow when its light since these look horrible.

Oh and I put a chip in my paint. Its not real noticeable but its still there...right there on the tower. I did it taking off the old filter.

ok now here are the pics:

2k3TitaniumSe---Yeah it growls pretty nice but seems quieter than my pop charger...mainly because I havent driven or gotten on it yet. Just blipping the throttle it sounds pretty sweet though.

Maximan190---Thanks.

dkris42---your kidding right? Did you read the opening or look at the other thread I was posting about LOL. Just messing with you since you may have missed all that was posted on the original thread and the first of this one. But no it will not fit a SOHC.

MrGone---I am not jealous...I have never met a mopar I couldnt beat (in my racing days not with the maxima) LOL.
I have a cousing that started a chromeing and powder coating business and he is going to do some stuff for me. I will see what becomes of that.

I will post pics in a little bit of the intake in the day time.

Thats it for now. I am going to work on making a template to give to anyone else that gets the kit. I had to cut the hole a little big since I went by the WSP cai template and it was off. I am going to weld up the area and fix it and then make a template. I may work on that this weekend if its nice and warm.

Mike, that looks awesome, I was checking it out on 4dsc.com last week but I don't know how to post on that site.(Or rather haven't taken the time to register) Who did you buy that one from? I know it was off ebay, but what was the selling company's name?

liveonspeed i believe. I emailed them and told them about the error of saying they were for a SOHC and they said they were going to change the discription of the ones they sell from now on. So I dont know if they will have it right or not.

Dont you have one coming from littlepiggie?

It looks like a pain in the *** to install that CAI - removing the fender, etc - how long of a job was it for you? I'm thinking about getting one but if it takes 8 hours to get to the filter every time I want to check it, I won't be too excited.

Like MrGone said I am painting my car so my fender was already off. The job should take no more than an hour after I make a template. Heck it took me all of 30 min to do but all of my stuff was off already.

All you will have to take off will be the plastic inner liner and a few things there in the engine bay.

They told me they were going to correct the description but they may be out of it too. Try emailing them and see what they say.

their eBay user ID is liveonspeed

here is a link to an old (closed) auction that I had in my favorites. you can use that to email them and tell them that is the intake you want. Its funny because that older auction doesnt say SOHC like the new ones do (or did) it just says 92-94.

OH I forgot and left out an important detail (sorry)...

they send some little allen bolts and an allen wrench with the intake. I dont know what these are for but they are not for attaching the adapter to the MAF sensor. I used the screws that were in the maf sensor already and put nuts on the other side of it.

Its not a bid deal since I had the nuts already (reason I forgot to mention it) but if you dont have a supply of used parts like I do (from various cars) then you will need to get some nuts to go on the screws.

come on now this isnt the thread for this. I dont want to get it locked because this escalates into a flame war with some of the other members.

I sympathise with you thats for sure. I lost $600 on my car because the guy "had problems" (even though they were of his own making) and because of my kind heartedness and willing to always give someone a second (and third and forth...etc.) chance. At least you will get your intake eventually.

I know its frustrating but keep it on your other thread if you dont mind.
