92 VE30DE Torn Apart
Hey guys, I have a 92 SE that I messed the engine up in (posted something about 3 weeks ago about it) and since I'm a college student I have no space, nor the time to work on it. The good news though is that my stepdad hauled it home and is working on diagnosing the problem. Anyway, to the experts: Since the engine is completely out of the car, and mostly disassembled, is there anything I should absolutely replace/fix, or check while I have the opportunity to do so? Any suggestions at all are welcomed.
Thanks a lot fellas,
Chris B.

well my VE 5spd was recently out so heres a few things to check - any cracks in the coil packs, knock sensor, all the gaskets and seals on the motor itself, check the exhaust studs to make sure they are not broken, .....

While you are there?!? This is a loaded question. I also tore my engine out. I have just about pulled my hair out over "while you are there" things. Remember if its not broke dont fix it!!
I can tell you afew thing to leave alone. I have a tech sheet that said to pull out the jets to check the galley ways for gunk. This is a bad idea. These are very hard to remove and not at all worth it.
Take it apart, check all seals, clean it (Hot tank), replace whats bad, put it back together. If you dont youll end up like me, spending more on the engine than you paid for the car.
It is a good idea to change a few thing though. The Knock Sensor is one, it is very hard to change on its own later. these are commonly bad in these cars. The chain guides are cheap, also alot of work later.
OOORR.......just go crazy and have fun, spend all your money and have one bad azz 4DSC!!!!
