Blitz or K&N

I just got my cheapie CAI off of ebay and it came with a "blitz style" cone filter. It has the paper filter on the sides but stainless steel mesh on the top. I am very skeptical about how much dust that steel mesh is going to stop. Is it worth trying or should I go with a K&N filter?

I'm pretty sure that there is more filter material behind that mesh.
If there ain't then I wouldn't let it near my car.

Nah, Brian, I ordered one of those and there is nothing there on top but metal screen.

I just wanted the MAF adapter, but that didn't fit (idiots on ebay). I just gave the whole assembly to some guy at work for his kid's car (90 Sentra) and told him to tape the top of the filter.

I would put aluminum tape (the kind you use for duct work) or at minimum electrical tape over the top part until you could buy a K&N or something similar. I wouldn't trust that screen at all.

Just my $.02

Just get a K&N cone, its safest thing you can put on besides the stock air box. Also Stillen uses K&N filters for a reason.
