seat belts messin up

ok so this has been happenig way too often lately and i hate it! I will go over to a friends house when they get in, they open the door and the belt does not move, or it will like a foot and stop. Then they have to shut the door for it to go back up. then they open the door again and its fine. My drivers one is the same, except when it does it it just stays where its at, all kthe way at the top. so then i cant get out. I have to shut the door and open it again. sometimes more than once and it finally goes down. is it the like the automatic seat belt control unit going bad?? Any ideas?

Those belts have lots of sensors, travel limiters and wiring. The Chiltons has a diagram with all the wires and sensors-lots of them. I've heard that Nissan has a life time warranty on seatbelts-so give the dealership a call to confirm that. If so, it will become the dealership's headache!

i also heard Nissan Does have a warranty, but they might try to trick you out of it. Giving the dealership a call and asking about the warranty wouldn't hurt.

well that would explain why they were saying it wasn't covered by a warranty

Call nissan customer service directly for info on the warranty.
Cause every dealer will try to weasel out of warranty claim as often as possible.
If I had to pay for my repairs I'd have sued my local dealer (Plymouth) for f-ing up my computer and then claiming it wasn't warranty. :grr:

The lifetime warranty on the belts MAY be true! Call the dealer and find out, then let us all know. My brother just had one power seatbelt replaced on an 80's vintage Honda under warranty!

Would this be just for the power part of the belts?.. or would they also fix my seat belt that doesn't retract all the way?

I had a problem with the chime bell (seat belt related) on my 91 max. I called the local dealer and they denied the Lifetime warrante. I have to call Nissan customer service at 1-800-1nissan and they gave me and my local delaer a claim number. The dealer then accept the resposibility and fix it. It took me 4 separate trips back to the dealer before they fix it.
Make sure you do not try to fix it first then the dealer will have an excuse for not to fix it.
Obviously, I rate them below average when they ask me to fill out the survey for all their warrante job.

yeah, im not a dealership fan. they try to get money out of your for nothing, actually i think it would be better for me to say i strongly dislike them. I have not found a single one with real customer service.
I will call that # and talk to them first, thanks

Oh my reason for hating so much is that when i went in for a recall fix, they gave me about a page and 3/4 of items i needed replaced or done, so i took it to my reliable mechanic who i trust cause i have known him for so long and he dosent rip you off at all, and let him read it and he was like, yeah you need none of this, except it is break time soon.
So there was like 1 outta 30 things that actually was true

They give you free oil changes and loaner cars free for life! They are the only oppostion to the other dearlers around here. They actually try to save you money, not rob you blindly
