Oily residue in intake manifold normal?

Just got my upper intake manifold off my 89 VG and noticed a lot of oil and grime in there? I have also in the past noticed a bunch of oily stuff that had collected where the breather hose connects to the air intake right before the Throttle plates. I have cleaned it out when I cleaned the TB and I put a new PCV valve in a long while back and have changed it regularly.

Anyone else experience this, is it normal or do I have a problem?

Thanks

Phew, thanks! I cleaned it off as good as I could without letting the crud fall down into the intake further. Im also trying to get the old gasket off using the gasket remover but its not working so well.

Thanks again.

PCV plus those valve cover breathers, actually I think the valve cover breathers contribute it the most. The EGR area is baked on lol.

Its blow by, either A you have a dirty pcv valve B a bad gasket or C burning oil fried rings, I wouldn't get to worried about it if it has been there for awhile, just keep checking your oil
