Voltmeter Gauge Installation

I am going to go buy a Voltmeter for my maxima. Its not too expensive but the instructions on their website arent very detailed.

Would this work out?

I would connect the Red wire to the 12V wire coming out of my headunit, and The black wire to ground.?

And also, it says to connect the gauge light, i would need to connect the red wire to my vehicle's wiring circuit and black to ground. I know how to connect the black to the ground wire, but where would i connect my Red wire for my light. Should i connect it to the 12V wire from my headunit? Or which fuse should i tap it into?

Confused... lol

From: Skokie (look it up)
there is 3 wires correct?
1- ground
2- power (hook it up to a switched voltage source like the radios power source NOT the battery feed)
3- light (hook it up to the + feed for your dash lights)

any other questions?

if you hook it up to the 12 volt coming out of your head unit the light will turn on whenever your car is running. you should be able to splice into the taillight fuse and the light will turn on with your interior lights.

thanks, i figured i would do this. Gound (for voltmeter and light) goes through my firewall to the engine bay ground. Wire the 12V for the voltmeter to the 12v connection to my headunit/eq, and wire a toggle switch between the 12 volt line from the light to the source in the headunit/eq.

i figure this way, i can manually turn on or off the lights on the gauges and my gauge would still read whenever my car is turned on.
